PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Aurivo has a modern dedicated ruminant feedmill in Ballaghaderreen, County Roscommon, which produces over 180,000 tonnes of animal feed annually which makes it Connaught’s largest animal feed mill. Kenaidan were awarded a contract to carry out the following works commenced in August 2014 and was completed in December 2014.
Works included:
- The creation of a new storage facility to the rear of the plant to accommodate the excess area needed to store the mill’s product in busy times such as the winter months. Included in this was the need to break through an opening into the existing storage area for access via forklift or other transportation vehicles.
- The creation of a new loading area so as products could be loaded indoors out of bad weather conditions and also ease the traffic congestion throughout the mill site. This included the breaking through of 2 no. new opening and the construction of a new wall and rapid roller shutter door for forklifts to access the loading area from the store. The installation of two heavy-duty roller shutter doors was also required for this element of works.
- At the entrance to the mill site there was a need for a new access control system to be installed, including the fitting of new perimeter weldmesh fence with protective bollards, personal pedestrian access system for employees and visitors and the installation of traffic control barriers for all vehicular movement in and out of site.
The mill was in full operation throughout the course of the works which Kenaidan respected by carefully managing, planning and controlling works, including working weekends and out of agreed working hours when required to satisfy the client’s needs and prevent any disturbance to the mill’s activities or members of staff.
